WHAT DOES “EMPLOYEE NOT FOUND” MEAN?

This message may display on a clock when a user tries to punch, or you try to enroll them. It indicates that the user is not present in the employee file loaded on the clock. This can be because:

  • The clock is in the process of refreshing its employee file (i.e., loading a fresh copy) and the part of the file containing that user has not been loaded yet. If this is the case, you will see a % number displaying on the clock screen (at the bottom) to indicate how much of the employee file is loaded.
  • The user is not authorized to punch at the location associated with that clock, through the location’s Allowed Users settings
  • The user is entering an incorrect employee number

 To troubleshoot this:

  • Check to see if the clock is still loading users (i.e., there is a number with a percent sign at the bottom of the screen). If it is, wait until it has finished and try again.
  • If there is no percentage displayed, then check to see what ranges/users are “Included” for the location that the clock is associated with (SCHEDULE > Component Config > Locations > Allowed Locations).
  • Confirm that the user is entering the correct employee number (or badge number) and let them know what they should be entering if they are not.
