How to Use Auto Translation for Live Chat

Comm100 Live Chat supports Auto Translation with built-in Google Translate integration. Auto Translation enables your agents to chat with visitors who speak a different language.

Please note that Auto Translation for Live Chat is not available in our Team edition.

Note: Auto Translation for Chatbot is also supported. To learn the details, see this article.

Enable Auto Translation for Live Chat

  1. Log in to your Comm100 Control Panel.
  2. Navigate to Global Settings > Auto Translation, and turn on the Auto Translation for Live Chat toggle key.
  3. (Optional) In the List Words/Phrases That Do Not Require Translation area, add the words and phrases so that they will be kept in both incoming and outcoming messages. kb-auto-translation-01.png
Note: The no-translation list configuration is global. If Auto Translation for Chatbot is enabled, the list also works for your chatbots.

Use Auto Translation in your Agent Console

    1. Log in to your Comm100 Live Chat Agent Console where you chat and monitor site visitors.
    2. Move your mouse to Preference and click Global.

    3. From the Language tab, select the Auto Translate to checkbox and choose a language from the dropdown list.
    4. Click OK to save the setting.

During a chat, the chat system auto-detects it when a visitor is speaking a different language. You just need to click a button to turn on the translation.

After Auto Translation is turned on, the chat messages from and to the visitor will be automatically translated. The conversation can keep going when your agent and the visitor type in their own language.
