How to Install Live Chat Using Google Tag Manager

This article provides step-by-step instructions on how to install Comm100 Live Chat on your site with Google Tag Manager (GTM).

Step by Step Instructions

To install Live Chat with GTM, you need to prepare the Comm100 Live Chat code first. You can find the Live Chat code on the Comm100 Control Panel > Live Chat > Campaign > Installation

After getting the code, follow the steps to install the Live Chat:

  1. Navigate to Google tag manager, and sign in to your Google account.
  2. Create a Google Tag Manager account. If you already have a GTM account, skip this step.
    1. Enter your account name.
    2. Set up the container. The container holds all the tags such as Google AdWords tag, Google Analytics tag, and so on. Choose Web as the target platform.

  3. Follow the popup message to install the GTM onto your website, and click OK.

    The Tag Manager dashboard appears.
  4. Under Workspace > Overview, click New Tag.

  5. Set up the new tag.
    1. Name the tag, for example, Comm100 Live Chat.
    2. For Tag Configuration, choose Custom HTML on the Choose tag type drawer, and paste your Comm100 Live Chat code to the HTML area.

    3. Proceed to Triggering, and choose All Pages.

  6. On the GTM dashboard, click Submit in the upper-right corner, then Publish your changes.

After publishing the changes, you can visit your website pages with GTM code to see the Comm100 Live Chat button.
